Described as the "Floating garden of the Atlantic" Madeira is a very colourful island with an envious all year round climate of neither too hot or too cold. For me the attractions are the mountains and the flowers. The whole island is covered with vegetation, what the Madeiran's affectionately refer to as the "Laurissilva" due to the abundance of Laurel Trees.

The island offers various walking opportunities from the high mountains of Pico Ruivo to the spectacular coast lines such as Sao Laurenco's peninsula.

The following photographs are just a snap shot of what Madeira has to offer.
